Abstract:

Introduction: Currently, a substance called casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate has been used as a substitute for fluoride mouthwash. This study aimed to compare the remineralization rate of fluoridated GC TOOTH mousse with concomitant use of fluoride mouthwash and GC TOOTH mousse on demineralized enamel lesions.Materials & Methods: In this laboratory study, 50 samples were selected from 30 intact human premolars, halved into buccal and lingual segments, and randomly divided into five groups. Enamel health was recorded using a DIAGNOdent device and Vickers micro hardness test.Afterwards, the remineralized agents were applied to the surface of samples for two weeks as follows: 1) Control, 2) Fluoridated GC TOOTH mousse, 3) GC TOOTH mousse, 4) Sodium fluoride mouthwash and 5) Sodium fluoride mouthwash+GC TOOTH mousse. Repeatedly, enamel remineralization values were recorded via DIAGNOdent device, and data were analyzed using one-way and two-way repeated measures ANOVA tests. Results: Our findings indicated that no significant difference was observed between remineralization rate of fluoridated GC TOOTH mousse and concomitant use of fluoride mouthwash and GC TOOTH mousse, evaluated by DIAGNOdent device (P=0.959) and Vickers micro hardness test (P=0.884).Conclusion: According to the results, application of fluoridated GC TOOTH mousse with concomitant use of fluoride mouthwash and GC TOOTH mousse had a similar impact on remineralization of demineralized enamel lesions.

Abstract:

Background and purpose: In this study we aimed to identify the association between birth weight and first PRIMARY TOOTH eruption. Materials and methods: This retrospective cohort study was done in infants attending for 12 and 18 months vaccination in Qaemshahr health centers. Multi-stage cluster sampling was performed. Information, including birth weight, height, and head circumference were extracted from vaccination cards. Other information including feeding type, gestational age, type of delivery, and the time of first PRIMARY TOOTH eruption was also obtained. Pearson statistical test and linear regression model were applied to identify the relationship between first TOOTH eruption and other variables. Results: Data of 704 children were analyzed. The mean values for body weight, height and head circumference at birth were 3222 ± 554 g, 50. 01± 2. 75 cm, and 35. 20 ± 2. 23 cm, respectively. Pearson test showed a significant reverse relationship between the time of first teeth eruption and birth weight (r=-0. 091, P= 0. 01), height (r=-0. 122, P= 0. 006), and head circumference (r =-0. 147, P= 0. 002). Linear regression analysis showed a significant revers relationship between head circumference and time of first teeth eruption (B=-0. 11, P= 0. 02). Conclusion: In current study, after adjustment of confounding variables, head circumference remaind reveresly associated with time of first teeth eruption. It seems that some variables such as gentic factors along with environmental factors affect ttime of first teeth eruption.

Abstract:

The TOOTH eruption is clearly quite complex, and many different mechanisms are undoubtedly involved. Low birth weight (LBW) infants (birth weight 2500 g or less) are prone to many serious medical problems during the neonatal period which may affect the development of oral tissues. This cohort study evaluated the eruption pattern of PRIMARY teeth in 26 LBW infants and 26 normal birth weight infants. Wilcoxon rank sum test and student t-tests were used for comparison of two groups. Initial eruption sequence in both groups was the same, with the two lower central incisors erupting first.

Abstract:

Background: The main disadvantage of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is its persistent dark coloring. The aim of this study was to cover this discoloration on affected PRIMARY TOOTH dentin with different materials and subsequently measure their shear bond strength (SBS). Materials and Methods: in this invitro study total of 60 PRIMARY teeth were demineralized and randomly divided into five groups (n = 12). The TOOTH surfaces were treated with 38% SDF, and restorative cylinders were built on the dentin as follows: (1) phosphoric acid etching + GLUMA Universal Adhesive (GUA,etch‑and‑rinse mode) + composite resin (CR),(2) GUA (self‑etch mode) + CR,(3) resin‑modified glass ionomer (RMGI,Fuji II),(4) Surefil One (self‑adhesive CR),and (5) TheraCem (self‑adhesive resin cement) + CR. After restoration, the specimens were tested for SBS. Failure mode was determined by digital analysis and scanning electron microscopy. Data were analyzed by one‑way analysis of variance and Tukey’s honest significant difference post hoc test. P <0. 05 indicated statistical significance. Results: Group 1 had significantly higher mean SBS (P < 0. 05) compared to Groups 2–5, while Group 5 had the least SBS (P < 0. 001). Mean SBS differences between Groups 2 and 3 were not significant (P = 0. 328). Group 4 had lower mean SBS than Groups 1 (P < 0. 001) and 2 (P = 0. 17). Most groups showed adhesive failure. Conclusion: CR associated with the universal adhesive in etch‑and‑rinse mode had much higher SBS than the other groups, therefore, we recommend it to cover the dark discoloration generated by SDF

Abstract:

Introduction: In restorative dentistry, selecting the proper material is an important factor for clinical success. The objective of this study was clinical evaluation of survival time of three TOOTH color materials in PRIMARY anterior teeth. Methods: In this interventional clinical trial study, 94 deciduous anterior teeth (36 teeth in boys, 58 teeth in girls) belonging to 3-5 year old children in Pediatric Department of Mashhad Faculty of Dentistry, Iran were selected. Selective dental materials included compoglass, glass-ionomer Fuji II LC, and composite resin. The data were analyzed with Kaplan–Meyer and Log rank test. Results: compoglass had the highest survival time in comparison with composite and glass-ionomer. Nine months retention rate for teeth restored with compoglass, composite resin and glass-ionomer were estimated: 95%, 21%, and 12.5%, respectively. Conclusion: Compoglass can be a suitable material for anterior PRIMARY teeth restoration.
